The Grassi family has been active in the stone quarrying sector since the 19^th century, when Pietro Grassi set up the first quarry on the Nanto hills and started producing fine stone for sculptors and nearby building sites.

The typical characteristic of Vicenza stone is the fact that it tends to grow hard with time, because of its calcareous structure.
