The requirements towards the functionality of modern building envelopes become larger and more demanding. Today facades need to cover a variety of partly controversial tasks depending on the type of building. E.g. UV-protection plays often the dominant role in museums, whereas antiglare-protection and the uniform illumination with natural sunlight are preferred in case of sport facilities. The most important requirements for different building types are defined and the products which meet the requirements best are recommended dependant on our experience and can be seen «Industries».
Application of Okalux products:
Stations, airports and fair halls.
Stations and airports involve the assembly of many humans in small spaces in very short time intervals. Visitors have to orientate themselves quickly in unfamiliar environments. Light falls in via the façade or the rooftop. Glare should be avoided. Our light-incidence controlling lamellas, our capillary products and our Okatech elements are particularly designed for these demands.
These functions are important for:
- Glare protection;
- Soundproofing;
- Utilization of the daylight;

Museums and libraries.
Museums and libraries are assembly locations. These rooms have to meet various demanding requirements. Exhibits should be exposed "in the appropriate (lime) light", libraries should be well illuminated in the research and reading zones. However, exhibits and books require the reliable protection against UV-radiation. Furthermore, the natural color of the light must be guaranteed.
These functions are important for:
- Protection against UV radiation;
- Photorealistic reproduction of colors;

Sports halls.
Lighting conditions in gyms are particularly important — not only for sportive battles of professional athletes, but also for rather popular sports and physical education lessons. The even illumination of the entire hall area should be achieved in any case. Furthermore, glare through direct sunlight must be avoided.
These functions are important for:
- Glare protection;
- Room climate;
- Utilization of the daylight.
Special buildings.
Shops, law chambers, trade fair stands, picture walls, information signs, interior design… There is almost no application for which we haven’t developed the special building or even the new product in collaboration with architects, designers and clients!
Our brands:
Okalux
Light Diffusing Insulating Glass.
Okalux light-diffusing insulating glass elements illuminate rooms evenly to the depth of 15 meters with minimum shadowing. The light-diffusing properties of Okalux are due to the capillary inlay in the inter-pane cavity, enabling truly natural expression of the entire light spectrum.
Kapilux
Capillary System.
Kapilux is the insulating glass which contains the capillary panel. This panel is made of honeycombed, glass-clear or white tubes.
Okapane
Light-Diffusing Insulating Glass for U-profile Glass.
Okapane is the capillary panel made of honeycombed, glass-clear tubes. The Okapane capillary slab is covered with glass fiber tissue (10 mm) on both sides.
Light-diffusing insulating panels in double-soundproofing U-profile glass ("Linit" or "Profilit") utilize the daylight and significantly reduce heat losses. They ensure the optimum and even light emission in the room, independent from alternating irradiation conditions. Light transmission and sun protection (TSET) can be determined in correspondence with individual demands. The superb, color rendering, excellent thermal insulation, attractive appearance of the U-profile glazing both in artificial and daylight as well as the significant improvement of soundproofing as well as the optical effect of depth from inside and outside round off the property-spectrum of Okapane. Okapane is made of fine, honeycombed glass-clear acryl-tubes (PMMA). These tubes are connected via glass fiber tissue on both sides to form a panel. The materials are non-fading and dimension-stable.
Okasolar
Glazing with Integral Solar Control Louvres.
Okasolar insulating glass is the daylight system which contains the element made form specially developed, fixed reflector profiles in the inter-pane cavity. These elements can be used for various applications:
- Seasonal and daylight controlled sun protection;
- Permanent sun protection;
- Light control;
- Passive solar elements.
Okaflex
Flexible Light Control.
Variable illumination, flexible room utilization — Okaflex helps to steer daylight precisely.
Okaflex, the thermal protection glazing with integrated lamella jalousie provides as much sun protection as necessary and as much daylight as possible. Glare and sight protection are also adjustable. All systems have been checked for heat resistance, fogging resistance and permanent load. Additionally, Okaflex is distinguished by the following properties:
- Okaflex Type E is the electrical (24 V, 6 W) run jalousie covering for use in facades. Through the integration into the inter-pane cavity, the lamellas and system elements are resistant to climatic changes and durably maintenance- free. Okaflex Type E offers all customary functions of the conventional jalousie.
- Okaflex Type W is the electrical (24 V, 6 W) driven jalousie for the use in roof glazing (up to the built-in angle of 0°) with the alteration of the lamella angle around its own axis.
- Okaflex Type M is the manually driven jalousie covering which also combines all ordinary functions of the jalousie with the use for vertical glazing. The impulse is derived through magnetic force transmission through the inner glass pane. Both magnetic systems are separated from each other through the inner glass pane, thus guaranteeing the density of the insulating glass unity.
Okatherm
Double Glazing Units.
Okatherm functional insulating glasses are manufactured in a great variety of different configurations in order to fulfill the project specific demands of architects and planners. Being the independent and not glasshouse-bound producer of high-quality insulating glasses, Okalux is able to use all basic types of glass that are available on the market, including coated, pre-stretched, laminated or otherwise treated glasses. The result is that Okalux can offer the best and the most cost-minimizing solution to meet the concrete needs and requirements of architects and planners.

Okatech
Insulating Glass with Metal Interlayer.
The innovative power of Okalux has much to offer for the design oriented architect: the design element in the area of multi-pane glazing called Okatech.
Okatech is the insulating glass with metal interlayer. Various textures such as metal interlays, expanded metal grids or ornaments with perforations ("holes") with different color coverings become combined with sun protecting or heat loss covering and thus add glow, structure and texture to the insulating glass. Emphasis is given to the interplay of visual attractions, light and shadow, glow and structure, light diffusion and reflection. Tightly woven patterns in façade glazing can almost ‛exclude“ glare caused during the zenith of the summer sun.
Okawood
Insulating Glass with Timber Inserts.
As natural material, wood creates the very comfortable atmosphere inside buildings. This is also true for the glazing: the incorporation of wood into the glazing projects the exclusive natural raw material and its special coloration. Okawood with its timber grid in the inter-pane cavity allows warmly colored light to fall into the room. Okawood with timber veneer adds the emotional warmth and vitality of the natural material to the building’s contours — the exclusive woods are protected from UV-radiation and any other climatic conditions.
